THE PLOMMONS   (Sweden)

The way the Plommons' story began, was quite unusual: Maud Lindqvist and Eva Håkanson were on their way back home one night, when they met a journalist, who thought the girls were rock musicians, because they were carrying guitars. Although Lindqvist was just trying to teach Håkanson to play, they couldn't resist telling a little white lie to the newsman. A while after this occasion, they actually formed a group and named it the Plommons, featuring Lindqvist on guitar/lead vocals, Eva "Plommon" Håkanson on bass/vocals and Eva Kroon on drums. In 1965, the Plossoms got a chance to perform at Gröna Lund, but there was a demand, that the group had to be a quartet. That's how the keyboardist Ingrid Granelli joined them. In the beginning it seemed to work out just fine: At Fall 1965 they performed in "Drop In" program, and in the early 1966 came out their debut-single. At this point the group's members were extremely optimistic 'bout their future and long-living career. Still, already by the end of 1966, were both Lindqvist and Granelli quitted (and were replaced by Helena Thunholm:gtr/vcl and Carina Fredriksson:keys/vcl), and at Spring 1967 the Plossoms broke up. Some of them continued with Suzie & the Sunnygirls, that became later known just as the Sunnygirls, after Suzie had left the group and continued as a solo artist.
