I first learned of Steel Panthers from a Pelit-magazine sometime during mid-nineteens. I read an article about World War II wargame that was something never seen before. I had no history with wargames (well, I was only 12-14 years old) but my interest in military history got me buying the game.
After Steel Panthers 1 I went to buy also the second game (Steel Panthers 2 - The Modern Battles) of the series. That's when I first got seriously hooked on the game. I liked the modern battles because they were even more versatile than ones situated in WWII. I spent endless hours of playing my friends and AI. It was great fun!
I gradually lost interest in playing Steel Panthers before the millennium. I found the game too unrealistic - the infantry had to fire each other too many times before any effect and the turn-based mechanism seemed dated compared to the new king of the hill - Close Combat.
About five years went without playing until my roommate Olli-Pekka Talja ("Suurajatollah" in the ladders) challenged me into a game of Steel Panthers 2. It was fun again but things got even better, when Oppe found a new free version of the game from internet.
Steel Panthers - Modern Battle Tanks (SPMBT) was a revolutionary experience for me. It seemed to have fixed almost all the irritating things that haunted the older versions. I was instantly hooked. After fighting several battles with Oppe, we both made accounts to Blitzkrieg Wargaming Clubs ladder and started to play against people from all over the world.
Almost from the very beginning I started - as a statistics-freak - to keep track on all the statistics involved with my battles. Lately I have started also to write battle diaries of my battles inspired by the ones in Pelit-magazine ages ago.
In this page I will keep track of my battles and the statistics involved in them and also publish the diaries of the battles that I've fought. I hope these diaries and the intense and enjoyable battles they portray, will attract new players to the Blitzkrieg community and entertain the old ones.
If you feel you're up to it, visit my Blitz member page and throw me a challenge. I usually try not to play more than three games at a time but if you see there's fewer than that, there's a good chance you'll find yourself a partner.
