Next Sub-Fennica presents an interview with Legenda.. A finnish
band which plays cold blackish metal with a "rocky" feeling. Sir Luttinen the vocalist and mastermind
of Legenda answered the questions...
1. Greetings, Sir Luttinen, how are you at this autumnal night/day? What are the
news from the Legenda Camp?
Nothing special. CD has been out a while and just waiting to see if it sells. After our recording
sessions in May I havenīt composed anything but, now it seems that as the autumn gets colder and
darker Iīll be able to do some stuff again.
2. You previously have played in the "notorious" finnish band Impaled Nazarene,
you quit with them and
started Legenda. How did this happen (biography)? Was it an easy process?
Legenda allready existed when I left Impaled, so it was an easy job, although we didnīt do
anything special with Legenda until ī96 when I went on by myself and started to compose more
seriously this stuff.
3. Holy Records released your debut album "Autumnal", they are know of their
sense of quality and original
music.. Do you think you suit well among other Holy's bands? How do you look
"Autumnal" now?
Holy has sense of quality? Hmmnn, maybe sometimes...but if you mean bands, hell, thereīs lotīs
of shitty bands in Holy. Yearning is actually only one I care to listen to. I still like Autumnal, although
this new one is much more better, of course. More variation, more speed, letīs just say that itīs
much rawer. Autumnal had great drums...
4. You write the songs, play drums and guitars in Legenda, but also you do the
vocals as well.. Isn't it difficult and time consuming? Wouldn't it be lot easier with full line
up or do you like being in command of things?
Iīm a complete tyrant when it comes to my music. But, I must say working with less people in
studio is much more quicker, believe me. Thereīs less people telling their ideas how their
instruments should sound like, and this way every instrument is played the way I want them to
sound.
4,5.Legenda was formerly called something like Shivasharna Legenda.. Do you have
somekind of Tibetian/Hinduistic influences?! Also I.N. had Ugra Karma tittle of one their
albums.. Explain this..
It was called Gandharva Legenda, which means half-god, I donīt know why I took that name in
the beginning as Legenda is much simplier and better. No, thereīs no influences taken.
5. Your music has very genuine feeling in it, darkly romantic/melancholic I
would say. Do you consider yourself a moody/melancholic person? Where do you get your
inspiration (musical and lyrical -wise)?
Hard to say if Iīm moody or melancholic, in a way yeah, maybe. Musical influences cover the
next question and are always hard to say, but I like to listen Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Danzig,
actually all kinds of music, Dissection has couple of good songs as well as Dimmu Borgir, I like
some classical stuff, so I guess my music is a combination of all these styles I like and Iīll just put
them together in one form. Lyrics just pop out my head, and are quite meaningless...
6. You have a projekt called "Isänmaa"/Fatherland, which from your released a
demo. Is it only directed to finnish audiences? What is it's concept? What about the
lyrics?
It ainīt directed to anyone and Iīm not sure if Iīm going to do anything under that name anymore.
Lyrics dealt with me being the father of all.
7. What kind of life you lead? Are your normal person or do you consider
yourself as an "Outsider/alien" in this stinking chaosphere called planet earth?
Normal life as an outsider.HA...
8.In some interview you stated that you are misanthropic person.. What is
wrong with humans (pun questions.. -ed)? What do you think about overpopulation and what
would be your cure to it?
A: Let the mighty mushroom show us the way. Like Frank Zappa said: All persons are assholes until
proven otherwise. You cannot handle overpopulation, humans are too stupid to think about that. I
know the cure, but what difference it makes?
9. What do you think of I.N :s new guitarist Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom)
and I.N. generally now?
Laiho seems to be very good in guitar handling. I donīt like Rapture.
11. Tell your opinions about following opposites :
Death / Life
We live to die.
Hate / Love
There isnīt one without another
Past / Future
I try to look forward.
Despair/ Hope
Thereīs no hope.
and about the Universe?
I WANT TO BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. Thirteen is a perfect number to end this interview.. Sub-Fennica thanks.
Last autumnal sentences are truly yours..
Thank you for the interview.
