Few major bugs fixed in TPM and release is days or weeks away. Celebrating that I uploaded the Alexandria Archives subsite back. Enjoy!

February 21st, 2006

Well TPM has done it again. We're back in business. This time located on our very own domain at www.thepeoplesmod.com. Currently we're picking up the scraps of the project and getting it to work again (In other words to clean the mess I made to the code when adding new stuff). Hopefully we finish this project before SE5 comes out...or if SE5 is released before TPM: Starfury we move straight into TPM: Space Empires V. Who knows?

As of today I've decided to quit working on The People's Mod project and remove Alexandria Archives subsite from Starfury Haven. The reason for this is mostly time and expertise issue. I've been very busy with school recently and it looks like I'm going to be very busy in the future as well so I don't have much time for modding. Also due to the fact that I've been working alone on the mod for quite some time now and I really don't know how every datafile like events for example work, I just can't make the mod reality.

All ships in the mod are freely yours to use expect the neutral's Freya and Maluk's Destroyer which are not my creations. If you have any questions or problems with the ship or the current version of the mod please just contact me. I'm happy to answer all the questions I can.

In the future once Space Empires V is released I may dedicate this site more to it and start working on a new mod for possible Starfury 2 in the distant future.

Well, updates have certainly had to wait for some time. The last time I modified this site was in April and now we're good way going towards winter instead of summer (atleast in the northern hemisphere). Anyway, just few minor updates regarding the site and the progress (there has been progress allthough little) on TPM.

First of all, the site. SF Haven is now a proud member of Space Empires Network so I added a banner to both links section and to the side menu. I also removed the link for ProjectXStudios from the links section because it seems that the site no longer exists.

I've also gained some feedback regarding the Monarch ship I have downloadable here. It seems that I've accidentally set it's maximum speed too low so the ship won't move in the game. I'll put a fixed version to the site once I have more time. Thank you for this feedback.

As for The People's Mod, the work on the mod kinda stalled in August when the main coder had to leave the project for personal reasons. The official forums of TPM also moved to SpaceEmpires.net but in the move our second ship modeler got lost so I found myself alone with the rather unstable version of TPM-0.3.0pre-2 development version. I soon noticed that the version wouldn't go as far as the game so I released a fix file which unfortunately still doesn't fix the problem. I guess I forgot to update the one file that was necessery. If you downloaded the fix file the problem with it lies in the Main_Enemies.txt. As you can see when scrolling down the file that there are entries for each computer controlled ship of the mod there. Every entry is separated by one row. Now in some place there's two or more empty rows instead of one. Starfury considers that the file ends here and considers the rest of the file as ignorable comments. So the entries below those emptry rows are never used. To fix this, simply erase the extra empty rows so that there is only 1 empty row there. I'll also put a fixed version available on this soon. Also few weeks ago the long lost modeller and texturizer (genius in his work) came back meaning higher quality ships instead of the crappy textures I've been making. I hope to add some of his new ships to the next release of the mod.

As for progress on TPM. Well I've erased all stock game ships from the mod. All computer controlled ships are now our own creations. However this has caused the mod to go unstable and the game crashes in Pirate systems or in systems that have Pirate vessels. I'm working on the problem. There's also a new CPU slot in every ship containing the computer core of the ship. This core gives the ship the selfreadout ability replacing inner sensors and in addition small bonus which depends on race. That's all for spoilers. I'll start working on TPM again and hope to release 0.3.0 version shortly for the masses to test.

I wrote my very first tutorial to the modding section. Go check it out. I hope it's atleast somewhat helpful.

The forums should work now. That's all.

I reinstalled the messageboard which means you (who were members there) have to register again. Sorry for the invonvenience. You shouldn't rush to do anything yet however since the board is in maintenance mode. You cannot post or register. I try to get it up and operational as soon as possible.

TPM 0.3.0-Pre2 fix added to the downloads section. It fixes some issues with the mod.

April 11th, 2005

Small updates. First of all a new banner. Many thanks to David E. Gervais for it. I also added one ship, the Monarch, to the downloads section. It takes some time to make ships downloadable so for now there's only this one.

April 10th, 2005

Alright, everything should be up and working. There are still some context missing but it took me hours just to get everything up again. In the future I plan to add some of my ships to the downloads section and maybe write few tutorials to the Modding section

I also removed my Alexandria Archives site at http://koti.mbnet.fi/dyards and moved it here. It can be accessed now through the TPM page. I hope you like the new outlook of the site.

Also if you're interest in playing with colors and images and have some spare time, how would you like to be a forum admin here and tune the color theme to a more better one. I did the current one in a hurry. So if a forum admin position sounds interesting please go and register at the forums and let me know.

I created this site. There are still some sections missing. I'm currently not home so please be patient and check back later today or tomorrow.
