Many (all of you) people have noticed our website/forum being down for a
long time (about 1.5 months when writing this).
In summer 2004 we got ourselves a sponsor (Maxhosting) who provided us hosting
to our website and a domain name (god-irc.com) in excange for a banner in
our website.
Everything went relatively well for a long time, our sponsor even renewed
our domain this summer and kept our hosting deal on.
All of the sudden (about 1.5 months ago) i found our website/forum being
down and so was the hosting company site aswell.
Well i thought no big deal, just a server failure or some other typical maxhosting
stuff.
However days passed, a week passed and our site still was offline. Then i
started to contact the persons responsible for the hosting, just to find
out there was no one to contact!. Their Website was also down, in their IRC
channel was only few people and one co-worker of the chief of that company,
who didnt help too much. All i could figure out from him was that the company
has died for a reason he didnt care to tell me and where is the chief of
that company? He didnt tell me.
Next i started to dig up the contact information for the person who actually
did register our domain, because it wasnt maxhosting but someone else.
Ok pretty soon i found that person/company out an contacted them.
And i got to know that maxhosting was owing that company a lot of money and
they too were looking for the owner of maxhosting.
I asked if i could get my domain username/password for the domain registrar
so i could change nameservers and point it to some other place.
He said NO, he couldnt give the info, but made me an offer. If i pay him
19€ or something like that he would point the domain to an ip of my choise..hmm.
not too good deal if you ask me.. And because GOD-IRC has always been a free
script and will be.. im not ready to pay for a hosting or the domain for
it.
Im not sure the exact date we installed the counter to our site but since
that we have got over 70 000 visit and the number of downloads can only be
guessed.

CONCLUSION:
Our sponsor died, so did our website, we lost our domain, we lost several
important files which we didnt have a backup. We lost our forum (which
luckily i made an SQL backup just few days before this all happent, so
i might be able to restore it, with only few latest post missing).

godirc6 is the latest version and there is no difference between the 3 versions
you see.. only the looks (after 1st install, which can be changed by typing
/themes when godirc is opened, so just pick one of those 3) Also older version
5.6 is included if someone liked the better.
