Biography

Gotham O.D is a Finnish modern versatile band that bases its music into very traditional rock values, with a twist of metal soundscapes.

During their eight-year career, the band has released three self-released EP:s and two albums via Off Records/Firebox. The albums are titled Monochromatic and Disbeliever.

Along with the debut album a video and a single were released, and the band has toured actively since then. The album was released also in Middle-Europe. Touring and performing live are definitely one of the bands strong points, the band has done almost 200 shows in Finland and neighboring countries. They are excellent live performers, and the shows bring out best their creativity, spontaneity and healthy Finnish craziness. This year the band is going to break their annual records in touring, since by the first quarter of the year there are over 20 shows booked ahead. These include for instance a show at Euro Bike Fest, Czech Republic, the biggest biker festival in Middle-Europe. More exciting touring plans are proceeding at the moment.

In the early 2011 the band has worked together with legendary producer, Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Apocalyptica, The 69Eyes, Poisonblack, to mention a few). New material is on it's way to be released, and the band will again rise to a new level with their heavy but addictive and infectious songs. The tracks Escape to Salvation and In a Shell bring out once again new dimensions from the band as they echo with a totally new sound, though still keeping the functioning elements from the previous productions. The organ and keyboards are again in great part, though this time also the guitar is in pivotal role in making the songs unforgettable. The rhythm section fills their task with style and solid groove as they lay down the foundation for these hard rocking songs. The singer Ilkka seems to have taken the "last" step in his work, taking himself and his band to an international level. Hiilesmaa's significant contribution can definitely be heard, and the small gap that has maybe separated Gotham O.D from international success, is now undeniably been closed. The lyrics are also very skillfully made, personal and touching. This is not very surprising, since there are many skilled lyricists in the band.

Gotham O.D's whole discography brings out their versatility and talent that cannot be measured in money terms. They are a true heavy ROCK BAND in this age of superficiality, sterility and wanna-be rockers. The band creates and performs their music with their hearts, and they cannot be tied down to any certain genre.

The band members are seasoned musicians, who are aware of the trade's current realities, also they are a easy to work with because of their flexibility and experience of music business. Gotham O.D is hungry and totally ready for a greater success they most definitely deserve. The ever growing audiences have noted that something's in the atmosphere around the band, since there seems to be a lot happening!

New material and yet more active touring will make Gotham O.D a very hot band, and the new songs will take the band to a new spheres in the radio waves also.

By no means should you try and categorize the band into a certain mould. All band members are individuals, but also good friends, and they share a very distinctive sense of humor. You can sense a sort of a cartoon character feel from these guys, and therefore, the band's gloomy path may very well lead them either straight to stardom or to Gotham Arkham Asylum.

Gotham O.D on nykyaikainen ja monipuolinen raskasta rockia soittava yhtye, joka kantaa mukanaan myös hyvinkin perinteisiä vaikutteita raskaalla soundilla höystettynä.

Bändi on kahdeksanvuotisella urallaan julkaissut kolme omakustannetta, sekä kaksi pitkäsoittoa Off Records/Fireboxin toimesta. Levyt kantavat nimiä Monochromatic ja Disbeliever.

Myös Keski-Euroopassa julkaistun esikoislevyn tiimoilta julkaistiin video ja sinkku, ja bändi on kiertänyt ahkerasti livenä. Tämän lähes 200 keikkaa kotimaassa ja naapurimaissa soittaneen bändin vahvoja puolia onkin juuri live-esiintyminen, tuoden esille jäsenten luovuuden, spontaaniuden, sekä terveen suomalaisen ja savolaisen hulluuden. Tänä vuonna Gotham O.D on kovaa vauhtia rikkomassa keikkojensa vuosiennätyksen, sillä jo maaliskuun alkuun mennessä bändille oli kiinnitetty jo yli 20 keikkaa, joista erikseen kannattaa mainita muun muassa esiintyminen Keski-Euroopan suurimmilla biker-festivaaleilla Tsekeissä. Lisää mielenkiintoisia kiertueuutisia on luvassa tämän vuoden aikana.

Yhtye on työskennellyt alkuvuodesta yhdessä tuottajalegenda Hiili Hiilesmaan kanssa. Uuden materiaalin myötä bändi nousee Hiilesmaan innoittamana jälleen uudelle tasolle raskailla mutta koukuttavan tarttuvilla kappaleillaan. Raidat Escape to Salvation ja In a Shell tuovat esille jälleen uusia ulottuvuuksia yhtyeestä. Biiseistä kaikuu uudenlainen soundi, säilyttäen kuitenkin kaikki hyväksi todetut elementit aiemmista tuotannoista. Koskettimet ovat jälleen suuressa roolissa, kitaran haukatessa tällä kertaa myös hieman suuremman palan kakusta. Komppiryhmä tukee ja pitää homman tiiviinä pakettina, juuri niin kuin sen tehtävä onkin. Laulaja Ilkka tuntuu ottaneen työskentelyssään sen "viimeisen" askeleen, vieden samalla itsensä ja yhtyeensä kansainväliselle tasolle. Tässä näkyy myös Hiilesmaan panos juuri sinä pienenä tekijänä, joka ehkä erotti aiemmin Gotham O.D:n kansainvälisestä menestyksestä. Uusien kappaleiden lyriikat ovat myös erittäin syvällisiä ja koskettavia. Lyrikointi onkin aina ollut eräs yhtyeen suurista vahvuuksista, koska bändin sisällä on monta lahjakasta sanoittajaa.

Gotham O.D:n koko diskografia tuo esille monipuolisuuden ja rahassa mittaamattoman talentin. He ovat todellinen ROCK-YHTYE tänä pinnallisuuden, steriiliyden ja wanna-be-rokkareiden aikakaudella. Bändi tekee ja esittää musiikkinsa suurella sydämellä, eikä tunne minkäänlaista genreahtautta.

Gotham O.D:n jäsenet ovat kokeneita muusikoita, jotka tiedostavat alan nykyiset realiteetit, sekä ovat hyvä ja helppo yhteistyökumppani joustavuudessaan ja musiikkialan tuntemuksessaan. Bändi on nälkäinen ja todellakin valmis ansaitsemaansa suurempaankin suosioon, jatkuvasti kasvaneet yleisöt ovat muutenkin huomanneet jotain olevan ilmoilla bändin ympärillä tapahtuvan aktiivisen pöhinän myötä.

Uudet tuotokset ja vielä entisestään lisääntynyt keikkailu tekevät Gotham O.D:sta erittäin ajankohtaisen bändin, ja uudet biisit tulevat viemään bändin aivan uusiin sfääreihin myös radioaalloilla.

Yhtyettä ei kannata missään tapauksessa laittaa muottiin missä se ei ole koskaan ollutkaan. Bändin jäsenet ovat persoonia, ystäviä keskenään, ja he omaavat varsin omalaatuisen huumorintajun. Miehistä paistaa tietynlainen sarjakuvahahmomaisuus, ja yhtyeen tie saattaakin johtaa värikkään synkällä polullaan joko tähtiin tai sitten Gothamin Arkham Asylumiin?
