Welcome to Cracow!
Cracow lies in the Southern part of Poland on the Vistula River in a valley at the food of the Carpathian Plateau, 219 meters above sea level. Approximately 300 km (190 miles) North is Warsaw, the capital of Poland, and 100 km (60 miles) South are the Tatra Mountains, forming the southern border of the country.

:: There are many interesting monuments in Cracow ::

The Market Square (Rynek) is the biggest in Europe. In the center of the Market Square there is the Cloth Hall first built in the 14th century. Inside it there are many shopping stalls where you can buy souvenirs (mainly silver and amber jewellery and craftswork).

As the legend says, a dangerous dragon lived in a cave at the foot of the Wawel Hill. It petrified the whole area. It was the prince Krak (the legendary founder of Krakow) who killed the dragon and saved the city. The dragon ate a sheep stuffed with sulphur, and drank so much water from the river that he finally burst.

On the Market Square you can also see St. Mary's Church which is one of the most precious Gothic monuments in Poland. It was finished in 1397. The bugle-call is played every hour from the windows of the higher tower into the four parts of the world. Inside there is a magnificent late Gothic wooden altar by Wit Stwosz.
